The beef that you will see at 72 High Street, Waipawa, is beautifully marbled, juicy, pure Angus heifer (female) meat. The lamb is from an especially tried and tested breed of Suffolk-Texel ewe (female) lambs, proven to be great meat producers and terrifically succulent. All our cattle and sheep are finished on our farms at Patangata Station, are 100% grass fed all year round, antibiotic and hormone free.
The chicken and pork will always be sourced from the finest suppliers who share our farming philosophy.
The chicken is all from Bostock Brothers Free Range Organic Chicken farms which is a Hawke’s Bay family owned chicken business. Bostock chickens are grown naturally, so as a result the meat is better formed, and is of a higher quality with a superior taste.
Our pork is 100% New Zealand-sourced, mainly from Fresh Pork NZ – a family owned pork business based in Canterbury. As the country’s leading pork supplier, they operate under the PigCare™ accreditation system. This ensures the pigs have been grown in NZ under world-class welfare standards. They are free from added growth hormones, unnecessary antibiotics, and are compliant with New Zealand food safety standards.
All our cattle, sheep and pigs are gender specific – they are female because female meat isn’t filled with hormones. It is more succulent, juicy, tender and flavoursome.

We think this breed of sheep is the best, because it delivers consistent, quality eating experiences due to the beautifully rounded loins on each sheep.
We like quality chicken, so we have chosen to stock chicken from one supplier – Bostock Brothers as they follow similar farming practices to our Patangata Station beef and lamb.
We also like quality pork and happy piggies that have been farmed like Farmer Duncan’s cattle and sheep. In the shop, we work with a good supplier of pork to produce outstanding cuts of Pork and delicious Christmas Hams. Our bacon has a well-deserved reputation for being closer to the farmhouse kitchen, traditional style of old in taste, look and thickness than any bacon you might buy elsewhere. Apart from happy, well cared for pigs much of that is down to the original smoking room which with a few tweaks has been in use since 1948.
Yum, yum… and in particular our famous sausages, try and decide your favourite! We work with external suppliers to bring in a few bits and pieces but we are building our own library of products right now – so watch this space!
